Life is Messy

On the Longhorn Ranch, it seems as if there is always something going on or falling apart or breaking. This weekend was one of those weekends when it seemed as if everything was. And if your household is like ours, well then you know that when things break, they break in threes.

We had 2 flat tires and one tire blow out. There was a broken ball joint that has now disabled our second vehicle, and a water line leak. If you are are counting...that's more than three. My alarm clock gains time for some unknown reason and for the last 3 months I am pretty sure I have been getting up at 3:15 a.m. No wonder I was yawning by 10 a.m.

We bought a new bag of cat food and Macon the cat jumped up on the dryer, where I put it down, and ate a hole in the bottom of the bag. This is life. My life.

I know...you're thinking that I could get rid of the cat and it would make my life simpler. Well no....it wouldn't. In spite of all the junk that is swirling around us, and making life more challenging, yes, I am thankful. Thankful to just have hot water, a couch to sit on and a roof over my head. I have one car that works. I have food and it's not a mango. I have a job where I get to encourage people on the radio. Life as it is...it's not that bad really.

When problems arise, and I haven't even tipped the scale on everything that is going on in the land of me, they can either get you down or can present opportunities where God can work. I choose the later. Yeah, I will probably complain a little, but eventually God wins me over. Like today, I was hip deep in a muddy watery hole, trying to fix a water leak. I was only doing what had to be done. God was there too, as His Spirit lives in me, and I prayed "God make this go well. Help us find the problem."

He did. Shayne my son, ironically wearing a "Mr.T" t-shirt came in like Rescue Man, and finished the job. Yeah, that's what I like to see. A superhero at work. So for now one problem fixed (we hope). Oh the two flats are fixed too. So when life slaps you in the face, as it does me, and you don't know which way to turn, always turn the dude with the biggest muscles for help, like Rescue Man. Remember, God loves to help when nothing else will.

That's the best I've got. Life happens.

Mr. T saves the day again. Was he sporting a mohawk? I hope.
