What's In A Name?

My pastor challenges me to be more Heaven focused. Sometimes I don't get that. How can we be focused on Heaven when there are so many things calling for our attention. With all of the myriad of choices, options, and mindless thoughts that go through our brain-meats, for me, I have to make a conscious effort. I must make a point to visualize what Heaven will be like.

When I was reading Soulprint, the book by Mark Batterson, I was stopped in my word-tracks. When thinking about Heaven I imagine that I am going to be speechless. That's quite a feat for this chick who talks for a living, but also as one who has a lot of words floating around in and out my cranium. I.am.out.of.words. I hope some super-natural talent takes over so that I will say the right thing. Or not say something dumb, something I shouldn't say. I mean once I get there I don't want to put my foot in my mouth and have any regrets.

In worship, on a Sunday morning, it is easy to go to the Throne room. The music and the focus are all directed towards our Savior. At the feet of The Master, just imagine....what that moment will be like. Revelations 2:17 says "He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches. To him who overcomes, I will give some of the hidden manna. I will also give him a white stone with a new name written on it, known only to him who receives it."

Whoa...did you get that? Now you probably are familiar with the truth that we will receive new and glorified bodies when we pass the pearly gates, but to have a new name? This name is one that is chosen just for us, for me and for you. God already has that picked out with you in mind.
"A day is coming when we will hear the voice of God, and He will call us by a name unknown to anyone else but Him. It will be a name we've never heard, but we will know it's our name. It's a name we were given before our birth, but it's a name that will be revealed only after our death. That name, our true name, will reveal who we really are." ~ Mark Batterson, Soulprint.
This idea stops me in my tracks. To know that the Savior of the world, not only has saved me, but gives me a new body, but now has given me a new name...on a white stone. I understand now that uniqueness is a part of God and that He has given that to me. It reveals His greatness through me. Wow, humbling to say the least that He cares for me that much. In a way, it's like a little bit of Heaven invades earth through the lives of His people. This truth helps me think about Heaven. So....let's go!!

What do you imagine your name will be?

Knowing that God has a name for me, that gives me hope. Imagine the greatest moment of all eternity, when our eyes behold Christ, and you see the One who died for your sins, and hearing Him say your name in His words, His voice. Now you understand the speechless part.
"In that moment your entire life will make sense because God will reveal who you really are. That new name will capture the true essence of who you are, and it will encompass all that you will become in eternity. Your soulprint will finally be given its true name." ~ Mark Batterson. Soulprint
Are you speechless yet?
