One of the big problems for this writer

"And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus,
giving thanks to God the Father through him." Colossians 3:17

"It's not what you do, it's who you are."  What I nice comment from my husband who just read one of the best blogs I've ever written.  "I'm encouraged after reading that."  He's so kind and happens to be one of my biggest cheerleaders.  Comments like that affirm what God is telling me to stay faithful too.
Writing.  Overcoming and more writing.

Only the Lord, knows how much I struggle to find my way into this big pond of authors.  Never let it be said that I want to promote my problems.  Certainly sorrow has shaped a lot of my stories.  But by honoring God in these posts, it helps me overcome my problem with posting.

I always what to share the hope of God in each post.

You see, sharing here is becoming safe place now.  I feel comfortable here.  It's been well determined that this isn't a topical blog.  This is a personal blog.  A place of sharing, caring and embracing this crazy journey called life that God has me on.

So one of my big problems is deciding which story to share today, or first or one that will move you to see God in a new light.  I don't take that honor lightly.

Please understand that I don't have all the answers.  I don't, but I am interested to know God answers about everything.  The enemy wants me to not be here, but this is about God proving fortitude in this little blog, perhaps patience, and yes even endurance in my little corner of the world race of faith.

I am mustering faith each and every time in writing.  It's God's way of building confidence, security and faithfulness.  It could be that another problem I have is using self-control.  I don't just share my stories, but I share heart with you.  Our wayward hearts are loaded with so many emotions, that they can be deadly and powerful, all at the same time.

A famous author once wrote this about his purpose in writing about pain.  "The only purpose is to solve the intellectual problem raised by suffering; for the far higher task of teaching fortitude and patience I was never fool enough to suppose myself qualified nor have I anything to offer my readers except my conviction that when pain is to be borne, a little courage helps more than much knowledge, a little human sympathy more than much courage, and the least tincture of the love of God more than all."

I bet he struggled with writing too and what to share.  You see when writing emotions intersecting faith it gets painful.  I'm really sharing some deep heart stuff here and putting my emotions on the line.  It's really my heart's response to what God is showing me through the storms of life and through His inspired Word.

For me, that's my honorable way to process.  It's God's way of teaching me what I need to know to cope with life, to be prepared for all situations, but also to become more like Him.  It's God's way.  Any time you play the God card, the game get's serious.  I don't take my big problem lightly but honorably.

Can I tell you in this that it is becoming less of a problem and more of an honor?

I bet C. S. Lewis thought so too.  He's the author of many books, essays, countless words of encouragement and the above quote.  From his corner of the world, in his writing place, I dare say he wrestled with what he would share.  I would call his writing honorable and share worthy.

Be encouraged today that the good works that God has designed from His craftsmanship, are specifically carved out for you too.  All that He has placed inside of you can be used in an honorable way.  Don't miss the lessons along the way as you learn His honorable way of sharing the good works He is doing in you.  By honoring God first in what He's designed you with, it doesn't take much for God to change the world through you.  All you have to do is listen to His voice, and use the creativity He places within.

All of the sudden your creativity bears your burdens God's way.   For me, this matters, and I don't have to use a lot of words to help you see that.  That's God's job and in honoring Him with mine, I know He will use them well.

10,000 reasons

We know and have heard the worship song by Matt Redman "10,000 Reasons".  However there aren't really 10,000 reasons actually listed in the lyrics, it is a great reminder of who God is and what He has done.  The song is an easy sing when things are going right, but the first sign of trouble and praising God becomes one of the last things we think to do.

We forget what God has done for us because we don't remind ourselves of God's power until we run out of our own power.  One of the last things we remember to do while being hit with problems in life is to praise God for them.  How often do we do that?  We tend to present our needs before God and then grumble about His perfect timing in perfecting our problems don't we?

Notice I said perfecting the problems.  Many problems are of our own choosing, but some just happen.  What we do have, though, is a choice in how we to respond to problems when they hit fast, furious, slow, steady, or whenever and however they come.

Praising God kicks the enemy's control over our thoughts to the curb.  Satan cant stand in the presence of praise for God, so he hits the skids and says..."it's a believer!  God's got that one!"

Okay that might have been just in my mind, but it's a great thought because I have found that when I resort to complaining in a bad situation, Satan invites his friends to join my pity party.  If I praise first, I don't have to send out any invitations to my fears.

Praising God unlocks God's power by releasing our trust to His immeasurable resources to meet our needs or problems.

Praise protects our peace that God is working for us and not against us.  Ex. 14:14
Praise is so powerful it can be a problem for your problem.

Ever felt low about yourself?  Praise Him for you fearfully and wonderfully made according to Psalm 139.

Don't like your reflection in the mirror?  Praise Him for it's not by your works you were saved, but by His grace.  Ephesians 2:8-9

Ever felt like you were doomed?  Praise God for raising Jesus from an empty tomb that over came death, and the sting of death is gone.  Read the Easter story in Luke.

Ever felt like the life's storms wouldn't stop hovering your life, praise God in the rain as He still reigns in your problem-filled days.  David recorded many stormy days in the Psalms.

Ever felt like you weren't enough?  We must let Christ increase and us decrease.  John 3:30.

The bottom line to praising God is that praise breaks the chains of sin, opens eyes of the blind, and sets the captives free.  Praising awakens our awareness of God's greatness.  Praise is our hearts response by our Creator's design from deep within our souls.

Praise releases God's grace upon those who have a need for it.

Praise overcomes your circumstances and problems, and helps lift your head when faith feels like it's going into a pit.  Praise overrides your feelings that dictate your life.  Praise reminds us of WHO He is by remembering His faithfulness,
of His holy wonder and awe, and that deepens our holy fear of our Creator over fear of man.

We tend to forget what God can do and who He is in our life.  God can and will do more than we can even dream!  He is already done more than we give Him credit for.

He's going to do more than you think He's going to do. You are not just going to survive through your story, but He will give you more opportunities to use His story through you!!!!

Our position is to praise, we praise Him no matter where and let his faithfulness speak.  Let Him do the difference, the reviving, and the prospering.  Jeremiah 29:11

Praise turns your mess into a message.
Praise turns your test into a testimony.
Praise turns a victim into a victor.

Praise is so powerful that even those who have hurt you can help heal you.  Praise equips us to walk in God's will.

Praise overcomes your preference - it lifts your face to see God's face in your problem.  Ps. 34.  Praise God we have problems, because we can experience God in many different ways, He is our Rescuer and loves to help when nothing else will.   Praise brings us near God's heart and we can experience His presence, even in our problems.

Praise lifts our hands and hearts to the heavens, and releases our worries, fears, and anxiety to the only one who can carry those burdens in His capable hands.

We live to worship God so WE don't forget He is.  We were built for this as His love carries us through.  Praise is our spiritual act of worship.  Romans 12:2.

Kickin' The Tires on 2012

It was the other day, as I was writing in my prayer journal, when I realized the error of my ways.  I foolishly thought that if I prayed over one word for an entire year, God would only show me one lesson connected with that word.

God doesn't work like that.

What I  found was, when you pray about a problem, or an seek an answer to a question, or pray a word for 365 days,  well....you do find God alright.
What I have found is ....that our creative God gives you exactly what you ask for, but in a more interesting and challenging way, let's call it a bigger and greater way.

Because God is just that...Bigger and Greater.

When I said I was seeking "rest" for my one word for 2012, it seemed tiny in my mind.  I needed it desperately but to me it was a tiny matter none-the-less.  I really thought it would be one of those small blips on God's prayer radar.  In the scheme of all that I still need to learn about who God is, honestly, rest or the art of resting was not one of my top God-I need-an-answer-to-this-heart-issue, nor was it high on my spiritual priority list.

I might have been just kickin' the tires on this one-word-a-year prayer idea.
So how did God teach me to rest?  He didn't.

When I sought Him for answers, He taught me to submit to His Sovereignty.
When I sought an end to my waiting, God taught me strength and a purpose in abiding.
When I sought truth, and God showed my sugar-coated well-digested lies.
When I sought a deeper faith, God showed me His faithfulness.
When I sought an awareness of His Presence, He taught me to be still and listen.
When I sought direction, God showed me His wisdom.
When I sought His strength, God peeled back the cover on my weaknesses.
When I sought His heart, God showed me the least of these in Africa.
When I sought His peace, God showed me my fears.
When I sought His light, He showed my darkness.
When I sought confidence, God showed me my pride.
When I sought action, God brought stillness.
When I sought freedom, God showed me my sin.
When I sought understanding, God showed me to follow and obey.

I sought His love, God romanced me with His words.
I cried the word rest..so many times, with so many words and
sometimes with no words, and with many tears.
God bent down and listened each time.

I made more room for rest in my life and God showed me the most Perfect Rest.
God deepened my trust for the One and Only True Rest.

What did God teach you in 2012?

Music Monday {me Without You}

tobyMac's latest song "Me Without You"
asks a good question...

Where would I be?
You rescued me
You are mine, I am Yours
You rescued me
And I am Yours forever
You saved me, remade me,
Where would i be?

Of course he is asking or talking to God...which brings me to the same question in my own life.

Where would I be without God?

My answer would be this...I would be in a world of hurt.  Oh wait, I am in a world that is hurting.

How do I make it through?  Knowing that I can run to God each and every time.  There is only One way to make in this world and that is to stay connected to God in the good times and bad times.

I can't solve my problems.  God can.  I am choosing to wait on His ways and on His timing.  I've packed my bags and am camping out, waiting for His best.  That is wise.

No more worrying...only more trusting, more of me holding His hand, more surrender to His will.  Less of me making my own way or trying to fix my own problems.  More of Jesus infused into my life.

Psalm 55:16 "But I call to God, and the Lords saves me.  Evening, morning and noon I cry out in distress, and he hears my voice."

That's peace, that's calm, that's assurance...no matter what desert storm is passing through.

So to answer the question...Me without God?  Now that's a very dry place.

How would you answer the question?
